January 2025 Apex Services Group (ApexSG) is committed to operating responsibly and reducing the environmental impact of the roofing, solar and maintenance services we deliver across social housing and public sector buildings. This Net Zero Plan sets out how we will measure, manage and reduce our carbon emissions across energy, transport, waste and procurement, and how we will embed continuous improvement into all areas of our operations.

This document builds on our existing Sustainability Policy and forms the framework from which our full Carbon Reduction Plan was developed in partnership with Sustainable X during 2025.

1. Our Sustainability Commitment

ApexSG’s core services include pitched and flat roof replacements, repairs, and the installation and maintenance of solar PV and battery storage systems. These activities place us in a unique position to support decarbonisation within social housing, while also challenging ourselves to operate to the highest environmental standards.

We commit to:

  • Reducing our operational carbon emissions year on year

  • Strengthening our supply chain’s sustainability performance

  • Improving the energy efficiency of our offices and fleet

  • Minimising waste and maximising recycling

  • Reporting progress transparently to clients, residents and stakeholders

2. Current Sustainability Measures in Place

Energy Efficiency at our offices:

  • Our head office is powered and heated via air source heat pumps and supported by roof-mounted solar PV

  • All lighting is low-energy LED

  • We have three on-site EV charging points

These measures significantly reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Digital Operations:

Propeller, our cloud-based job management system, connects our entire workforce digitally, eliminating printed worksheets, certificates and job files. This reduces paper usage and enables more efficient scheduling.

Transport and Fleet Management:

All ApexSG vehicles are Euro 6 compliant and forty percent of the fleet is hybrid or electric. Our digital scheduling system reduces wasted miles, and we adopt a “two colleagues, one vehicle” approach wherever practical to cut emissions further.

Waste Management:

We segregate site waste and divert at least ninety five percent from landfill. Roofing and construction waste is monitored through Propeller and reviewed by supervisors to identify improvement opportunities.

Materials and Supply Chain:

Where client specifications allow, we source materials locally or from UK-based manufacturers. We expect responsible sourcing, low-carbon materials and ethical practices from all suppliers and subcontractors.

3. Carbon Footprint Monitoring – Our Starting Point in 2025

ApexSG does not currently produce formal carbon footprint reports. In partnership with Sustainable X, we have introduced structured carbon measurement across:

  • Fleet mileage and fuel consumption

  • Office energy use

  • Waste outputs and recycling rates

  • Materials and supply chain sourcing

Timeframe: Initial carbon baseline was completed in Q3 2025.

This baseline forms the foundation for all future reporting and reduction planning.

4. Net Zero Targets (Draft and Subject to Refinement with Sustainable X)

These targets provide a clear direction of travel and will be validated and recalibrated through our Carbon Reduction Plan during 2025.

4.1 Carbon Reduction Targets

Short-Term (2026–2027)

  • Establish full annual carbon reporting by Q3 2025

  • Reduce business travel and fleet emissions by 10% per mile travelled by 2027

  • Increase hybrid and EV vehicles from 40% to 60% of the fleet by 2027

  • Reduce office energy consumption by 15% through efficiency measures by 2026

  • Maintain at least 95% waste diversion and target 97% by 2027

Medium-Term (2028–2032)

  • Transition to 80% hybrid/electric fleet by 2030

  • Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 40% against the 2025 baseline

  • Require environmental performance data from 100% of key suppliers by 2030

  • Ensure all subcontractors meet ApexSG’s sustainability standards by 2032

Long-Term (2033–2040)

  • Achieve a fully electric fleet by 2035

  • Reduce total emissions by 85% against baseline by 2040

  • Offsetting only permitted for unavoidable residual emissions

Net Zero Target: 2040

5. Supply Chain Sustainability

We currently complete basic checks on suppliers and subcontractors. Working with Sustainable X, we will implement a formal assessment covering:

  • Carbon reduction efforts

  • Waste management performance

  • Sourcing of low-carbon materials

  • Ethical and responsible procurement practices

Target: Full supplier sustainability assessment process in use by Q2 2026.

6. Policy Coverage Across Key Emission Areas

Our policies and practices already aim to reduce emissions across:

  • Energy – Air source heat pumps, office solar PV, LED lighting, digital systems

  • Transport – Euro 6 fleet, EV/hybrid transition, smart scheduling, reduced miles

  • Waste – Ninety five percent diversion from landfill, digital monitoring

  • Materials – Responsible sourcing, preference for UK-manufactured products

  • Supply Chain – Policy reviews and planned strengthened auditing

  • Water – Efficient use, low-waste operations on sites and at office locations

These actions will be integrated into carbon reporting and target setting during 2025.

7. SCSS (Supply Chain Sustainability School)

ApexSG is registered with the Supply Chain Sustainability School and uses the training resources internally. We are committed to progressing to Member level within twelve months where required.

8. Monitoring and Reporting for Contracts

Once our Carbon Reduction Plan is fully implemented, ApexSG will report:

  • CO₂ emissions linked to fleet mileage and site travel

  • Office energy consumption

  • Waste volumes and diversion rates

  • Material sourcing and responsible procurement

  • Training and progress through SCSS

Reporting will be aligned with client requirements, PAS 2060 expectations and the measurement framework established with Sustainable X.

First full reporting cycle: Q4 2026

9. Governance and Annual Review

  • This Net Zero Plan will be reviewed every January.

  • Progress will be monitored by the board and operational leads with support from Sustainable X.

10. Summary

ApexSG is committed to a realistic but ambitious pathway to Net Zero. We have already made strong progress through renewable heating, digitalisation, hybrid and electric vehicles, and high levels of waste diversion. Working with Sustainable X, we will now formalise our carbon measurement, set robust targets and deliver structured annual improvement.

Target Net Zero Year: 2040

Baseline Completion: Q3 2025

First Full Annual Report: Q4 2026
